| RCMP check - nothing needs to be done. Take it to the consulate for certification. |
Unless you have a third party getting it certified for you. My daughter is handling it for me in Vancouver & the consulate told her today they need a notarized scanned copy of my passport photo page. |
notarized scanned copy of passport?
that's new. true everywhere or only vancouver?
so, how do you go about having a scanned copy notarized while living overseas? canadian embassy / consulate? |

As far as I know its just Vancouver, which seems to be more finicky than other consulates. Not a major extra hoop. I just scanned my passport & emailed it to my daughter who will print it out & get it notarized in Van & present it when she goes to get my crc stamped.

notarized in Alberta and going to the Vancouver consulate = no problem.
notarized in Ontario and going to the Vancouver consulate = no chance.
Maritimes = go to Montreal.
Manitoba west = go to Vancouver.
Ontario = go to Ottawa or Toronto.

Thank you! I may get it notarized in the Yukon.

Just wanted to say that I went back to the notary public I posted earlier and the prices for two verified copies still stands at $17 total. It also takes about 5 minutes for notarized copies.
And to verify what ttompatz said, they state that
| Quote: |
| 2. A photocopy of university degree which has been notarized by a notary public within our jurisdiction (BC, AB, SK, Yukon, NWT) |
is one of the required credentials for degree verification here: http://can-vancouver.mofat.go.kr/eng/am/can-vancouver/visiting/degree/index.jsp
Also, I want to thank ttompatz for the helpful posts he supplies on these boards. They've been a lot of help! |
I agree, ttompatz is extremely helpful and I'm sure a lot of people here appreciate it, as do I.
Thanks for the quote, wedgey, I did notice that, but it doesn't say that for the page for the CBC. I assume it's the same, so it should be okay.
For the CBC, they do require it to be notarized:
http://can-vancouver.mofat.go.kr/english/am/can-vancouver/visa/criminal/index.jsp
schwa mentioned earlier that he needed the CBC notarized since he was doing it with the help of his daughter, but I think everyone has to do it, in Vancouver at least.
The passport photo being notarized thing, that's just if it's through a 3rd party right? I'll be doing this all on my own. |
