We should send in videos of a 'tongue in cheek" nature and see which one wins. Example:
"I love Korea because it keeps me on my toes. When I try to use a crosswalk the threat to my safety posed by motor vehicles inspires me to dash across - sometimes literally leaping out of the way of oncoming cars and auto-bikes. Without this element of danger I would just stroll across the crosswalk chomping on a bag of potato chips. As a grossly overweight English teacher I truly needed this exercise. The adrenaline rush also helps raise my metabolism. I've lost four kilos since coming to Korea. Now I can enter my English classroom without turning sideways. Thank you Korea."

| Lots of guys have come here to work as 3D workers in order to save money to start a successful business in their home country or put their kids through university, some of whom became doctors and lawyers. Unless you've got a feelgood story like that to tell, your odds of winning are pretty slim I would think. |

I love Korea because it makes you so miserable. The more miserable you are the happier I am.

Word. I'm getting drunk at Incheon airport right now, about to tack country 48 (I believe) onto the list. So happy for a change. "Cultural differences" is about the most stretched justification you could hear when it comes to Korea. Most of the cultural issues here are NOT truly relative, they're bizarre societal malfunctions. Which inevitably become self-justified protective armor for those who, in most cases, haven't seen very much of the world, or have high stakes in the matter. I've never been to a country quite as strange as this one.
The only thing I really "love" is my cake job and the women. But to each his own.
The Arirang TV sponsorship is funny, too. Talk about propaganda, but propaganda aimed at English speakers... I figured that racket out immediately. |

I love Korea because it gives me a laugh reading Dave's and watching apologists try to defend it to new foreigners as they come and go year after year.

I love the Korean traditional culture that isn't rammed down our throats. I love the smiles from my students, the discussions with present and former co-teachers, and my friends I met in interesting ways.
Since they asked people to make a video about how much they love Kpop, I doubt this contest is to be taken seriously. |
