For the FBI background check do we need to get fingerprinted? IF so where do you go? Also how long did it take?

Yes.

The police station.

Varies depending on how clueless the guy doing the prints is.

I am a first-time teacher so I am interested in the process to obtaining my criminal background check as well. My recruiter won't give me clear instructions. I live in the US and I was wondering if it matters where I get my fingerprints done? Should I just go down to the police station with the Fingerprints form from the site? Do I have to make an appointment to do that? Or should I go on the Cogent site and register to get it done at another nearby location (and if so, am I supposed to register with the Department of Education?) If I am applying DIRECTLY to the FBI, am I receiving a nationwide check and do I have I include a note requesting it to be apostilled?
