I have a D-10 visa. I have a new job. I started April 1st. I'll pick up my health check today (April 5th) and head to immigration next week. I'll change my D-10 to a new E-2 visa. Here's my question: the school paperwork (including my contract) will show that I started work before getting my new E-2. We're not allowed to work on a D-10, but due to technicalities that's what I've been doing this week.

Can I expect any grief when I visit immigration? Does my school need to alter my start dates on the paperwork?

Thank you kindly for your advice.

Scorpion.

If there are problems, be ready to work 1 year and a few days more to make sure you complete a year and get severance, flight home, and last pay.

After it is sorted make sure they pay into pension each month.

You answered your own question. Yes, it is illegal to work while on a D10 visa. Change the contract start date.
