He is only "suspected" and wanted for questioning, don't you believe he could be innocent? How about we line up all people wanted for questioning so that you can kick them in the crotch? I doubt he cares whether your life could be "potentially" harder or not.
OTOH, S. Korea would never ask another country or report to Interpol a S. Korean man suspected of the same. Its image is far too important, S. Korea would just wait until he returned, if ever. And besides, "pedophiles" aren't "pedophiles" in S. Korea, they are "behavioral addicts."

Koreans should deport all foreigners including US military as it appears that they despise us all. |

Funny, I want to kick them in the balls for messing with little kids. |
Yeah something's a little off when it comes to an alleged diddler being found and people more worried about their life being convenient.
That being said, the key word is alleged. Let the man have his day in court.
This issue is actually a very niche one, one that should (and likely won't) have a very niche response- Suspected and charged individuals being able to exit and enter countries (which seems all countries allow). There should be ways to stop this in the 21st century.
What's needed is a sensible closing of a loophole, not a witch hunt.

As an apologist known for feats of mental gymnastics in apologizing, that Gusts post was Comanici-esqe in its apologizing against parents worried about sex offenders teaching their kids. Sorry, when it comes to diddling, that's something where you need to be a bit more balanced rather than reflexively anti-Korean and looking out for yourself.
You'd think everyone would be in favor of closing this loophole. |

They should make a movie about him. It might be popular.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Little_Bride
"My Little Bride (어린 신부 Eorin sinbu) is a Korean romantic comedy film about an arranged marriage between a new teacher and a student. It was directed by Kim Ho Jun and was released in 2004. It was the second most popular Korean film of 2004 in Korea, behind the blockbuster hit Taegukgi, with 3,149,500 visitors. It was 4th most popular among all films.[1]"
The girl in the movie is 15 years old when she marries her Art teacher. It's on youtube if anyone is curious, and there is "first time" scene too. |

Yeah this is a situation where a legitimate flaw in their screening process has been exposed and it needs to be taken care of. It's pretty much a no brainer and I expect parents to make sure their teachers aren't pervs. There are some sick people out there and I won't fault someone for erring on the side of caution. I wish the USA would fix it on our end and keep a better eye on guys like that.
I don't see a reason to be offended by the idea of screening anyone who is working with children, especially when different cultures are involved. |

There have been many articles about this in the Korean media. Read 'Gusts of Popular Feeling' to see new English teacher cartoons reminiscent of North Korean artists. BTW, do some South Korean newspapers hire North Korean artists? I ask because S. Korea did for the cartoon Pororo(then got banned in America).
Anyway, why is S. Korea complaining about the FBI when S. Korea lets sexual assault convicts go abroad after removing their ankle bracelets? In fact, it's against the S. Korean law to restrict convicts from traveling abroad. Oh, and I checked Interpol and the two mentioned below aren't on the list, no Korean is wanted for any type of sexual offense so it must be S. Korea's own "wanted list"(they don't want to damage their image).
http://english.donga.com/srv/service.php3?biid=2012101611008
"Those convicted of sexual assault who are supposed to wear electronic monitoring anklets have been found to travel overseas with their anklets unfastened. Two have been put on the wanted list after failing to return to Korea.
According to Justice Ministry data submitted to Rep. Seo Young-kyo of the main opposition Democratic United Party, who is on the parliamentary legislation and judiciary committee, 26 people convicted of sexual assault have departed the country under permission from probation officers since 2006, when the system was introduced.
Rep. Seo said, "Probation officers make arbitrary decisions to allow these people to travel overseas, and this goes against the purpose of the electronic anklet system, which is to prevent the recurrence of sexual abuse."
The Justice Ministry said, however, "It is against the law to restrict relocation of residence and travel for those wearing electronic anklets."

I feel bad for his wife. Imagine being married then finding out your husband might be a pedophile.

That's pretty much spot on.
I know it's selfish but I'm also worried how this might affect my life. |
