Are there any of these in Busan? They have amazing fried chicken. A million times better than Pelican.

If Thunder Chicken gets you excited, I recommend 오복통닭. It costs more but the portions are huge and it's some of the best fried chicken in Busan.

You can find them all over the place. There is one 30m near my house and 3 within 100m. The only problem is that each box is around 2,500 kal. But still, everyone loves thunder chicken.

This thread should be read in conjunction with the one about "Why are so many foreigners here obese"?

Grilled chicken, people. Grilled chicken.

By the way, is it okay to eat at these chicken places by yourself? I usually eat with friends on the weekends, but sometimes during the week I want to eat at a chicken place or other meat joint.

I figure chicken is fine, you just may feel like a chump.

Why wouldn't you eat there by yourself? It's like you got your own little party going on with no one to bug you while you scoff out.

I hear that, but sometimes I have tried to go into a restaurant by myself, and they would not allow me to eat there. This is especially true at those self bar buffet places.

I've been refused solo service at a restaurant that served gom tang, being told they required a minimum of 2 for service. The sam gae tang place across the street from my previous room had no problem, but soup dishes are the most problematic in my experience.

No problem with the buffet restaurant either, but that probably has a lot to do with the fact that it's across from my school, and the owner waves at me on my way to work every day.

Never, never, never have I been refused solo service at a chicken shack. I don't go unless they serve soju, maybe that matters.

It may not be the best time to quote Paula Deen, but......"It's not that diabetics can't have cake. They just can't have the whole cake". Fried chicken is just fine, as long as you remember that you could......theoretically.....take some of it home for the next day ( or two ).

Thankfully they didn't name it "Paula Deen's Fried Chicken".

The majority of meat restaurants do not like serving a single customer. There are a few exceptions, but generally they are not keen on the idea.

Yes, those big communal soup dishes are usually intended to be for at least two people. There is often something on the menu stating as much.

I didn't really take the meat restaurants into consideration, depending on what you mean by that, because I don't really go there unless I have a dinner companion and they suggest/insist . One exception is the "dwi gogi" type of place. I usually become known at some place or other like that and get some kind of Papal Dispensation. I also try to keep an eye out for varied menu places across from the university or downtown. They usually are pretty welcoming.

The bottom line is that you just keep going into the type of establishment that provides what you are looking for until someone says "Sure! Sit right over here!" If you don't have any luck at the first place, no problem, there are 10 more just like it across the street.
