Marijuana legalization isn't simply a "liberal" position, Rand Paul's eager willingness to pursue it being indicator number one thereof. |
I agree. But many social conservatives see it as part of the "culture war". |

I will never forgive the Evangelicals and the opportunistic Left for co-opting and perverting what should be a sane, straightforward, secular discussion about the rights of a fetal person. |

Jesus would want you to forgive them.
Not sure you can have a sane, straightforward, secular discussion with people who use the phrase 'fetal person.' |

| Compared to the absolutely inane term "corporate personhood," "fetal personhood" really does not seem that unreasonable. |

Do you think it wise to accept terms as reasonable by comparing them to absolutely inane terms?
There are a lot of inane PC words and phrases out there...yes? |

Sometimes I feel that almost everything about our society can only be construed as reasonable if compared to far more inane things. |

| Its not unreasonable that people would want to attribute personhood to a feotus. Or rather, its not transparently self-serving. |

I'm sure you find the terms "temporary parasite," "cancer with potential," or the ever bland "clump of cells" much more palatable. |

It eventually gets so complicated that people can't even manage to spell the original word.
Not knocking your spelling...but wtf...please...fetus.
The American simplifications in spelling make good sense...at times.
I haven't suggested that point was unreasonable...the PC language is unreasonable...and annoying.

Get a grip.

Yes, that sentiment is common, but not admirable...yes? |

This may explain why I chose to use the word 'liberal':
To be specific, 65% of Democrats and 62% of indies support legalization, as compared to 35% of Republicans. Even more predictably, there is an inverse relationship between support for legalization and age: 67% of under-30s and 62% of those 30-50 are there; and even a solid majority (56-40) of folks 50-64 have no problem with street-legal wacky tobacky. Only seniors oppose legalization, but even they do so by a narrow 53-45 margin.
