I was looking at this ad http://www.eslcafe.com/jobs/korea/index.cgi?read=60826 and it says 120 hours a month which would be 30 hours a week. So are you paid a 40 hour salary while working only 30 hours?

Teaching kindy is exhausting. 30 contact hours will seem like 50.

Paid for 40? Not really.

What kind of hours do they give for elementary and middle?
Are the elementary or middle the easiest to teach?

I guess for middle school there might be more gradings you have to do?

Don't be fooled. The 120 hours is only teaching hours. That doesn't include office hours. You are still working a 40 hour week and if you are teaching kindy, it will seem longer.

30 CONTACT hours per week / 120 contact/class hours per month ....
DOES NOT MEAN 120 WORK HOURS per month.

That 120 hours does NOT include the time you need to put into lesson planning, material creation, etc. (read the "duties" in your contract).

Teaching (if you plan to actually stay employed) is a 40-hour to 50 hour per week (at the school) job.

Since you are a "salaried" (rather than an hourly rate) employee there is no "overtime" for that other stuff that you need to do or the time you spend at your desk when not teaching.

How many hours ??

Newbies (to teaching or new to a class/subject) who are any good usually put about 1 hour of prep into a 1 hour class.

AFTER you have been at it for a while you have a bank of stuff built up so you only spend about 20-30 minutes to properly prep for a 1 hour class.
(longer for writing classes since marking takes a LOONG time).

Newbies who spend 5 minutes at the copy machine before class as their prep usually don't last long. Classroom management becomes a significant issue for them due to the lack of planning and prep and they wonder why they never get past the entry level jobs.

So you won't get fired even if you spend only 5 minutes to prepare for class?

30 teaching hours a week is dreadful.

To prepare for these kinds of classes I give a quick writing assignment at the start of class to give me time to see where I bookmarked where I left off from the previous class. From there I just think of what to do next right on the spot.

What is it that you do that you think of right on the spot?

depends on what picture I see in the book.

if they show some guy walking his dog in the rain i just easily think of topics from that.

do you feel blue on rainy days?...most of them do
do you own a dog or other pet?
if the man is dressed really nice i ask what kind of job he may have?...or tell me something about this man's life (students have to make up a story - that's when it can get really weird and funny)
is his dog a good dog or bad dog...why?

etc etc

ya know, things like this....

That's an impossible question to answer, it would be totally up to the school. If your classes are badly prepared and parents complain, or pull their kids out, you could well be fired.

How much prep I do depends on the age group and the books. For kindergarten, I do very little prep (outside art class), because I've taught all the books before. Lower level elementary takes a bit more work because the kids need to be kept interested. Advanced elementary is more work again, because there's a lot more independent work involved. For middle school and summer/winter intensives I do a lot of preparation because they are extremely high level students.

In the industry = no. The demand for EFL teachers in Asia far outstrips supply.

In the same country = maybe.
You may have to change countries due to visa issues.
