An elite group of exiles... According to Jang — a former counterintelligence official and poet laureate under Kim Jong-il ...
Remember how accurate the advice from Iraqi exiles was? They will greet us with open hands and candy, etc. |

The guy has been conspicuously absent though. They've been blaming it on gout. |

Have you seen the guy? In this case, I'd say gout is pretty likely. |

With North Korea anything is possible. I guess we have to wait until the 10th to see who is sitting on the viewing stand. |

Here's my way out there angle to this...
Maybe he's dead (died of naturally), and they are just keeping the fact secret. If things go south, the military can claim they killed him and saved the county. Maybe the visit to the Asian games was a prelude to unification talks under South Korean terms. |

...or maybe there was a botched surgery, or freak occurrence like a blood clot leaving him incapacitated and senior leadership in North Korea is keeping it a secret because they don't know what to do yet.
Ahhh, exciting and scary times. Probably all to be dispelled in a couple of days when Glorious Leader makes an appearance, haha. |

During the recent Asian Games, the title for Kim Jong Un consistently was translated as "Respected Marshal" in English, when DPRK medalists were interviewed at post-medal press conferences.
So, it seems the current title for Jong Un is Respected Marshal, not Supreme Leader, or other terms of endearment for Kim Il Sung, the perpetual president. |

We will know by Friday if there is something going on behind the scenes.
October 10th is Party Foundation Day in NK and is not something you just skip. If he is not present then it is good evidence that something is happening to either Kim or the regime itself.
The fact that the usual experts are also baffled by what's going on is even more intriguing.
