He should study, so what?
He will live at home with his parents until he is 33 years old.
His mother will cook his meals, clean his room, do his laundry, and take care of all his other needs until he is 33 or older.
His parents will pay for everything he needs, including university and spending money.
His parents will put down a big deposit or outright pay for his first home.
He should study but he will be cuddled and pampered until he is well into adulthood, mid 30s.
This little dude is another Little Emperor.
At his age, when I was 12, I had a part-time job helping out at my uncle's business. In high school, I routinely worked 2 part-time jobs. During these times, I did chores around home, bought my own clothes and provided my own spending money as well as went to school and studied.
By the age of 18, I was out on my own and fully independent, cooking my own meals, doing my own laundry, etc,. I had the old car I had bought in high school. I lived in a small studio apartment on my own. I had a full-time job. I was taking 4 classes at university my first semester while holding down work and life. I completed university, a BA with a 3.86, in four years. Later, I punched in a few classes along and completed my MA. I worked my rear off.
Kids all over the world are starving or have little chance of getting an education. Yet, these Little Korean Emporers are complaining about having to study. Notice, he has time to pop up a video in his nice and tidy little bedroom.
GEEEEEZ! Lazy, spoiled, little fart. |
Preach it, brother! |
I see what you're trying to say but I honestly don't think that all of the students that end up attending the SKY universities are from well-off families... in fact, I know many students on scholarships or with parents who have have had to sacrifice in order to pay the tuition fees. Even the poor families are still making sacrifices so that their kids can attend some type of summer camp or after school hagwon.
You tell a story of how hard you worked but at this point it's irrelevant unless you did this within the Korean education/social structure. I mean, I'm sure many of us on here have similar tales to tell of how hard we worked to get to where we are in life today and for many it still may not be the ideal place (I think the majority of us ended up in Korea by design and in some cases out of necessity).
Almost all of the Koreans I have spoken to on the subject, know that the system is flawed in some way but obviously a foreigner telling Koreans what they already know is probably very infuriating - I guess it's kinda like me going to Boston and 2014 and telling the locals the Red Sox are terrible... even if it's true, hearing it from some random guy from London will not go down very well.
So my thinking is that if this type of video can inspire other students to be more open/outspoken, who knows... maybe in 15yrs time when our generation (I'm in my 30's) has more political power and these 15yr olds are joining the workforce and starting families they could be the start of a nationwide policy changes, hey if this was blogged and went viral with Korean subs, it could be the start of s'thing - who knows. |

I see you've made a breakthrough in your therapy and have come to accept yourself for what you are, a little clown. I'm sorry that you find a small dose of reality antagonizing.
BTW, do you really think I would waste my time watching the video when I'm sure, sure, sure it's more of the same ol' same ol'?
Show me the callouses on his hands from stitching soccer balls or collecting garbage to earn his daily bread. When you can do that, get back to me.
The hypocrisy of Richie Rich Park complaining about the system that's going to keep him in high kimchi stinks like the Seoul subway at rush hour. |
Bwahahaha
So you've sunk the the "apologist" argument that you so love to bash of "Hey because your problem isn't as bad as in other parts of the world, you shouldn't complain!"? Haha too funny. |

This is ridiculous. You are trying to be funny but you aren't. People will think you are a middle school dropout posting such dribble. |

Quote from atwood in this thread (http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=234187&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=60):
"More horseshit.
It's not the result of bashers making comparisons or that comparisons weaken anyone's arguments. It's that they don't address the problem.
For example, no one needed to make any comparisons to show how far-fetched your apologies for the the captain of the Sewol were/are.
SR: Man, you just ran into me after running that red light. My leg's going to be in a cast for two months, and I may have a limp for the rest of the life.
Motorist: Don't sweat it man. In Eritrea, it's much worse, 48.4 deaths per 100,00 inhabitants. You should thank your lucky kimchi you're on the ROK.
SR: Blah, blah, blah, timeline, my bad."
No he's using the same argument to make whatever point he's trying to make lol. |

You're learning, but you've still got a ways to go.
This kid isn't complaining, he's whining. |

Wow, you flatter me. I didn't realize anyone was paying attention.
But comparing that kid to sr just isn't fair to the kid. sr is old enough to know better. The kid, like you, still has some learning to do. |
