|

My contract will be over later this year and I currently teach at a branch of one of Korea's biggest hagwon chains (ex. Avalon, CDI, YBM, etc). And like with most hagwon teachers I've met, I landed this hagwon job fresh out of college with a BA and no teaching certificates.
If I want to make the jump from hagwon to public school, would my 1 year of "teaching experience" be considered as real teaching experience to SMOE? I've heard hagwon experience isn't taken seriously. But considering that I work at a well known hagwon chain I'm hoping its considered legitimate.
I'm also not sure about SMOE requirements nowadays but do I need a teaching certificate and if so which one is more widely accepted? |

SMOE is cutting back, and they mostly hire females. With your qualifications (coupled with being male) your chances of getting in are very, very slim. But give it a shot and apply. You never know until you try. Let us know how it goes. |
