Sorry for posting so many questions lately, but . . .

every link I click on for "The Hagwon Report" is broken or mis-linked . . . does such a report still exist? Where?

Problem with the H-report is in method and safeguards.

How do you evaluation the validity of a claim?

Do you verify these accusations or even bother to see if they are substantiated?

Considering the source of some of these complaints, are you willing and able to dismiss some of the complaints when they are clearly miss-founded?

Such a report or a list is problematic at best unless it is run by people with professionalism and objectiveness.
This means that while some hakwons are at fault, some teachers are also often at fault and make unfounded accusations.

Although I agree with Homer somewhat ( what's new , ) I do think that it's a good idea to do some reaserch on any prospective employer here, basically you're going in blind otherwise. I have known of some pretty lousy schools and although the percentage was fairly low, I have seen how much distress it has caused in an individual's life. Do as much resarch as you can. Consider that there might be more than a grain of truth to negative accounts but beware of inflamatory statements. In other words, at the end of the day, use your head and your gut instinct. I believe that EFL law had some such hagwon report, but haven't looked at their site recently.

I agree with da Bear on doing research before coming over or signing any contract.
That is just common sense 101.

However, until a school list is being run by professionally minded people, I would put very little credence into what ends up on there.

You should feel good about the efforts you put in.

However, if the list is just for information purposes, it loses some credibility as whatever ends up on there can be interpreted any number of ways depending on who reads it.

A true list (not saying it is your job to build one) should post reports that are substantiated and verified.
This would be usefull to both prospective teachers and could conceivable force certain schools to change their ways.
