I totally lost it today.

Getting towards the end of the book, English Time 4. We were on the lesson dealing with "I want ..., Let me ..." and personal pronouns, and planet vocabulary.

Dialogue goes like this, "She wants to see Mercury, Let her look," etc.

So the one of the lines is .... I want to see Uranus, Let me look.

Laughing Laughing Laughing

Totally cracked up and couldn't stop laughing for 5 minutes. Students looking at me like ok the foreign teacher has finally gone off the deep end.

When I explained the innuendo to them (they're 14, old enough) they cracked up too and were laughing the rest of class. Downside is now I can't get them to stop talking about Uranus.

God, I love this job.

You just know there's some waeguk who writes English Time sitting in Itaewon laughing over a beer at what he's got all the little Korean kids saying... he probably put it in there for our benefit, too..

I laughed quite a bit when I looked at an English to Korean dictionary. Not only did they have the "f" word in there, but they had at leasted ten different ways in which to say the word. " ____ you," something like "she was a real good ____" and such. Then they had follow up words like "f___ed up." Had me going for awhile.

Has anyone else been subjected to the horror that is Ani-talk?

They have a drama book along with the main book.

One of the drama books covers the story of the Three Little Pigs. On the final test there are some multiple choice questions. I lost it when I read:

What did the three little pigs do together to the wolf?

1. Light the fire
2. Blow him Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Seriously Shocked
3. Tell mom on him

I might have thought some way gook in put it in there but these books are so lousy you know they were written by an illiterate Korean...as in illiterate in both English and Korean

Rolling, sweet!

Last Friday I had my students (high shool aged) do speed races (writing sentences on the board), well while this Spanish girl and Taiwanese boy were at the whiteboard, a Japanese girl shouted to the Spanish girl to 'give him a head.' Shocked Man, did I just about loose it. Took me a second to realise she meant to give him a head start!

Baowww chicky chiky bao baowwww....

One of my kids farted the other day and it smelled soo bad we had to evacuate the class room. I laughed so hard I cried. I felt terrible because it was the only boy in the class and he was really embarrassed Embarassed

Exploring English as I recall.

"Dirk is shorter than Mirk but is bigger than Quirk" and then variations on that.

I was watching a demo lesson when I first came. My now friend started smirking, I started laughing and it was all over from there. Did we laugh or did we laugh. The students had absolutely no idea what we were laughing about.

I'd given a rather difficult assignment to a class of middle school students. They were trying their best, but just couldn't get it. Finally, one boy sighed loudly, leaned back in his chair, and said, "I'm so hard."

Yeah, good one.

When my folks came to visit me (for wedding), my mom wanted to sit in on one of my classes (university). The small group of about 8 students were allowed to ask my mother anything, and one girl with typical pronunciation asked, "Did Ryst take you to the city fok museum?"

My. Mom. Was. Floored.

I. Burst. Out. Laughing.

'Course, we spent the next couple minutes on pronunciation drills....

Farting! Funny. Nobody has farted in any of the classes at this hagwon and I've been here six months. Must be a 'good neighbourhood'.

Your a lucky man Kirk. I had one kid (nice kid but a bit weird) who used to regularly fart so badly in class that the other kids basically had him run outside when he was about to let one rip.

He was new to the class and had been farting every few minutes in the previous class so the kids said to him that he has to go into the corridor to fart. Anyway unaware of this a few minutes into my class, Michael jumps to his feet and runs for the door. I shout at him 'where do you think you're going?' And he turns around as he's running out the class and shouts back 'Urrgh! Teacher. Pangoo very badly!'

His farts were 'evil' Evil or Very Mad . God knows what he ate to make those smells.

Thought "Lost it Today" was about getting really angry or feeling crazy... hitting the deep end. Glad it was just a good laugh. Very Happy

In high school we had a poster of the solar system and the words "Explore Uranus" on it. We sure overused that one.
