Green tea isn't proper "tea" anyway... give me some Scottish Blend or Tetley any day |
While it's not as good as Red Rose, after awhile I took to Gree Tea-after dinner anyways.
kiwiboy, I usually like tea after dinner, it's not a morning beverage.
kiwiboy, I like women-just attractive women a little bit more so than the other kind |

I have tried the allergy thing(for seafood). I am not allergic, just don't like the stuff(unless its battered Fish and Chips style). I just figured it's safe to do that here, b/c I won't eat raw rish or any of the other gross stuff I've seen.
They still don't understand "allergy," even when I say the Korean word for it, which is similar. They think if I try different fish, it's ok ok ok ok.
Whatever....I give up. |

So, you want to go around with Koreans thinking you are a Mormon? |

The original post has given me visions of a korean version of Mrs Doyle from Father Ted.
Example as best I can remember it:
"Would you like a little cup of tea?"
"No thankyou, I am allergic to tea"
"Are you sure you wouldn't like a cup?"
"No thank you if I drink tea it will kill me"
"Well I'll leave the cup here just in case you change your mind." |

This is no big deal.
They are only offering as a curteousy ("Injung").
Accept the tea. Mime a few sips as if you are tasting it. Then let the cup sit on the table while you do other things.
Problem solved.
You can then stop whining about such insignificant matters. |

See thats the thing. Why should he have to drink some tea if he doesn't want to? Is it just to avoid offending people? Be honest and tell them you hate it. They will appreciate the honesty.
Tell them "Nok-cha shi-reo-yo" (I don't like Grean tea)
Them: "Jin ja" (really?)
You: Nei. Mash-ob-seo-yeo (Yes. I don't like the taste)
That should do it for you. I haven't been offered coffee again at the school. When I somebody mistakenly offers me coffee, the other teachers tell that person of my dislike for coffee and they will give me juice or water or whatever else is around. |

Tell 'em you can't drink it because it contains as much caffeine as coffee -- and ask them to stop giving it to their kids like it's freaking water.
Then call them pushers and storm off. Works for me.

Tell them what you DO like. They will probably rush out and get it for you.
I think they are just trying to be kind and social with you so be careful how you treat this situation as you could become wangda if you are too negative in your reactions. |

There is NOTHING wrong with being wangda. What this place needs is a lot more wangdas.
But I agree that the workplace is hardly the, uh, place to start a revolution.
