Did anyone know that James Joyce, the celebrated Irish author and one of the greatest talents to ever pick up a pen was also at one time .... an ESL teacher!!

Anybody know any other famous ESL teachers ?

Samuel Beckett was teaching English to the French... or was it French to the English...? Maybe both. Eitherway he boned Joyce's daughter and then dumped her good. Not very nice; but really stuck it to Joyce, which is cool.

I've heard of that dog. Though whenever I ask someone about him they don't know who I'm talking about.

Sting was an English teacher, and Owen Wilson was an ESL teacher in Korea.

According to his IMDB bio:
Quote:
Did not graduate from The University of Texas at Austin. He is 2 courses (he has said Math and Spanish in an interview) shy of a degree.

Laughing

Actually, it's not in his actual bio, per se, but it's on the same page. Look down to Trivia, 2nd paragraph.

I was actually curious if his bio said anything about which city he worked in, or if he talked more about his experiences over here.

I couldn't find anything, however, I found the degree comment and thought it was amusing, in light of all the crap going on about english teacher credibility, these days.
