They're in both places. I think the guy was living in Korea when he created Lotteria, but is half Japanese. Maybe. I'm too tired to Google now.

That's the one thing I found funny in Lost Memories. Instead of Chilsung Cider machines all over the place, they were Pocari Sweat machines.

Actually, the founder of LOTTE is Korean-Japanese. He is an ethnic Korean born and living in Japan. I don't know if he ever got Japanese citizenship, since it is difficult for ethnic Koreans to get Japanese citizenship, especially in the 60's. I believe the founder's parents either immigrated to Japan or were forced there. They eventually ended up in Sapporo.

lastest update..

The owner is Korean and only korean.. he has been persuaded many times to change his nationality to Japanese but he always refused!
his wife is japanese.. so his children are japanese citizens (half korean/half japanese blood) with full japanese citizenship!
Lotte was built in Korea but moved to Japan where he made his company the power that it is today. The headquaters are based in japan
but they pretty much work out of Korea and japan equally.
The original owner is very old now.. so his First son will take over LOTTE..
the first son is japanese.
so lotte is is a Korean/Japanese company.
owner is korean..

In Lotteria, you seem to taste more of the packaging than meat or bread. UGH!

It's been years since I've eaten at Lotteria, but I always liked those fries they had where you pour powder onto them and shake 'em up in their bag. They had cheese flavor, sour cream n' onion flavor, etc.

This would be a big hit in western countries, I think. The shrimp burger less so.
