In the past few days I've noticed most of my boy students have picked up the word "hur". Maybe they used it all along and I never noticed it before, but now they do it all the time and it's driving me crazy.
What does mean?? From what I gather it's pretty much the equivalent of this -.-; emoticon. The sweaty one. I don't understand what the sweat means either.
Anybody know what it means or have students that do this? Is this a new thing? |

It's pretty common and not new; it's used only by kids and what it means...essentially, it means you're surprised by something.
The -_-' icon more means you're embarassed. It's taken from anime references. |

| I've also heard . I'm pretty sure that there are regional dialects for something like this. |

It means that you find something surprising and funny and stupid.
I've heard it used mostly by teenage girls. |

The way they say it, I thought it might be similar to "ssullung" --- not real funny, just like a Bush joke that isn't really a joke. Example: middle school girl asks "You cut your hair?" I say, "No, someone else did."
