There is a world map on the wall outside of my classroom. Some student chopped Japan out with a razor knife, and of course renamed the bodies of water.

I'm glad it wasn't my personal map.

Why don't you whack a big 'Takeshima Island' up there before their next class?

Well, I'm tempted to rename the entire Korean Peninsula, "East Florida," however I'm sure it wouldn't sit well with administration. Laughing

We were doing countries and nationalities in my advanced elementary class Wednesday night. Sure enough no sooner than I had passed out the (photocopied) maps then they were crossing out Japan and drawing in Dokdo. I figured it couldn't hurt to teach them that someone from Japan is called a 'nip'. I'm sure that my Japanese friend in the US would be able to laugh about it.

Why don't you support them? Maybe they'll pay attention more if you respect their politics.

Is Canada still intact in your personal map? Laughing

Northern Minnesota is still as cold, barren, and boring as ever. Wink

This one lost me, too???

I looked, but couldn't find where anyone said they couldn't keep the students' attention.

Am I missing something?

This is classic-- the malignant dwarf is building a nuke and will test it soon. The govt, which doesn't want to deal with it, uses the media to whip up anti Japanese feeings over a silly piece of rock. And your average Kim, Pak and Chung buys it hook, line and sinker.
