I don't think those guys are neo cons and they wouldn't consider themselves to be either. If the guy can't get that little bit right why should we take the rest of what he says seriously?

By that argument, if you can be shown to have opinion that's somewhat off the mark, we can ignore every point you've ever made?
Try disproving his arguments, Joo.

I agree. Rush is not a neo con, nor am I.

Another example of the ineptitude of the left's political abilities. When conservatives seek to malign their enemies they do it with much more competence. Consider just how maligned the word "liberal" is these days. It's a term that's become such political poison that they had to come up with another euphemism, "progressive", a term which sucks mightily. Progressives have as much to do with progress as conservatives have to do with conservation.

By contrast, the left has chosen to slander the term "neocon", a label which very few conservatives have ever self-applied. Consequently we have leftists dodging, weaving, and prevaricating to avoid the dread L word while they toss some lame-ass insult like "neocon" at us to no effect.

Advantage, conservatives.

Just a note...the writer doesn't claim that Rush is a neo-con.
He is saying how as a neo-con he was pulled to the message of the conservative right. Which makes sense at a time when they were gung-ho for the war.

If you guys weren't so busy playing patty-cake with each other you think someone on one side or the other would have picked that up.

Or more likely we came to the conclusion that this was just another boring article that R.S. habitually tosses up in lieu of actual thought.

When conversations go off on a tangent it's usually because the main narrative is banal jackassery.

I dont' think the writer ever was a neo con, nor did he mention a single neo con that he listened to.

He says he supported Bush in 2000 well that is interesting knowing that most neo cons supported John McCain and some of them even went for Al Gore. There is nothing to believe that the guy was anything more than a classic conservative, and now the guy seems to have gone libertarian.

If he mixes up the terms then it kind of shows he doesn't know what he is talking about.

Yep, all political poison. Much to my delight.

And to that I say, "Neener, neener, neener". Let's see you people get your collective acts together and do something about it. I personally don't see it happening.

A proud accomplishment sure to go down in history for what it is.

Is it achievements, Hank, or what?

Or just defeat?

Are you seeking one-party rule?

Be careful, you commie.

If you think this is the first time in history that governments, even the US government, has done some lowdown things then you're a fool. In the grand scale of things, the stuff we've done thus far since 9/11 don't even compare to interrogations and war crimes committed by American and Allied troops in WWII, Korea, or Vietnam. And I hate saying this on Memorial Day weekend, but the casualties we've thus far incurred since 9/11 are miniscule compared to all of our previous wars.

The difference between the reaction of the left now and then is that the left in the past had to at least act as though they had a shred of belief in their country. Not so anymore; they let the mask slip. The left is the enemy. I have no other term to describe a class of people who consistently have common cause with the very people we're hostile to and go to great lengths to anklebite us when we're involved in a global conflict. You are the enemy as far as I'm concerned.

I'd want victory, period. Anything that gets in the way of that victory is a problem for me.

Sorry to be so below-the-belt, Captain America,
but creating legal blackholes for torture isn't exactly kosher with our principles.

But fly the flag high.

Sweet Liberty.
