The Cowards blew 14 of my brothers to their Maker. It's when I read stuff like this that I wish I was still in the Marines so I could go on some raids and take out these evil terrorist cowards. I must check

again to see if I know any of them. I don't know how they are going to solve this problem. Perhaps only another ruthless dictator can settle this country. But, that of course would mean forgetting about correctly identifying the opposition forces (as they do now) and just suppressing any and everybody who could possibly disagree with you (what goes on in North Korea now). Maybe if they could bring back the Spanish Inquisition from the Middle ages that sure took care of the Moors. No no bad joke- that level of cruelty is about the same as Saddam's. Still they need to be more proactive somehow - while still not becoming tyrannical and evil like the past.

If you feel so strongly, maybe you could re-enlist and teach those a lesson.

How dare they attack they attack the invaders. Shocked

I feel for the persons who lost their lives and for their families, however your anger seems a little misguided, as it was your leader and many of your voters who supperted this war, and this is just a price you have to pay.

A Marine officer, speaking on condition of anonymity for security reasons, said the attack occurred as troops were traveling in an armored amphibious vehicle to assault insurgent positions around a village near the Haditha dam, a longtime way station for foreign fighters infiltrating Iraq from Syria.

There really does seem to be a bunch of silly sods over there. I doubt if any of the Iraqis will ever have control over their oil revenue, at least not in the life span of those now living.

I would not go so far as to say that foreign nationals are invaders. They have come to support Iraqis who are not at all pleased about the current events in Iraq. I only wish that Syria and Iran would get together and install their own provisional government in Iraq, provide arms and uniforms for all those who want to enlist and let them fight it out. Why should only one side be funded?

The real invaders are the ones that brought false claims and started the bombing. Invading and coming to the defence of someone are two very different things. But I would prefer to go along with the article where it used the word infiltrating as that is not the same as invading.

I did hear today that the U.S. will start to issue 10 year bonds again, as the U.S. is in a bit of a pinch with all the costs of war. With less change in their pockets, support for the war will continue to fall.

I really do hope that some peace can come to the Iraqis soon, but what real examples do the have to model? Saddam ruled with might and fear, and then they were invaded by a few nations who didn't have the facts in order. Is still debatable if the war was legal, but most we agree that it lacked legitimacy.

For those who are serving in Iraq and think that they are there defending America from another 9-11 need to give their heads a shake. I still hear those justifications, but they are really very hollow.

I was under the impression that soldiers were people.
Doing a job.
Probably not too keen to be there.

Step back from realpolitik for a moment and try thinking of them as people rather than cannon-fodder some time, Metternich.

Don't want to be distatseful or anything, but I have seen the video of this particular attack released by the insurgents-and several others including the carbombings from the past month. gruesome stuff.

nowadays when claiming responsibility, they video the ambush and release the footage to the press not only to back up their claim but spread more terror I guess.
i won't post the actual links to that, but instead- here are a lot of Muslim extremists talking about why they fight etc. As you see, insurgents in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo etc were drawn from all over- including many british, American and even Australian muslims.

Something tells me, if they did not release it - we would not hear about it.

When suicide bombers kill civilians they are called cowards and rightly so. When one of them can take out 14 marines he's just fighting back as best he can. Were you for the invasion? If so, perhaps before you backed it you should have considered the possibility that 2 1/2 years after the invasion started the invaders would still be facing attacks?

BTW, who's a bigger coward, someone who sacrifices his own life killing enemy soldiers, or someone who sits back and presses a button, well out of harm's way, killing enemy soldiers?

It's not just about methods of fighting, but about what they're fighting for. And it's just plain naive to think the resistance is simply fighting to free Iraq from the invaders.
