Hey all. I know that this is something that has already been asked, so my apologies. I noticed before, on a couple of different threads, people mentioning some way to get Korean subtitles put on an English vid, but I've gone through about 4-5 pages on most of the forums and have not been able to locate what I'm looking for...seems like the search f'n is on the fritz again. Anyone?

Try this site. The third tab is the trick. Lots of subtitles. However, it's kind of touch and go because you need the exact movie release or it will be out of sync. But it's the best source I've found. Good Luck.

Thanks very much! Alas, I think it's too early for King Kong though...1933's there but not 2005 Sad Anyway, I'm sure I'll make use of it in the future. How does it basically work? Do I unzip the file into a folder with the movie file or is it a bit more complex?

Thanks for that site too.

I downloaded The Princess Bride and Once Were Warriors subs. Smile

I have usually used the 'find subtitle' function in Gom player to find the subs.

If they are out of sync there are programs to fix that. I use subcreator.

To get them to work the subtitle file has to be named the same as the video file.

Thanks for the hints. That GOM program was actually on this laptop, so I gave it a go last night...works pretty nice. For anyone who didn't know(like me), try to get the right subtitle/smil file for the vid you have, start the vid in the GOM player, and then drag the smil file into the vid window. Presto, you have subtitles! (As long as you have ڸ ̱ checked on the SUB menu)

you just have to place the .smil file in the same directory as the film. Also, it MUST have the exact same name. (i.e. Aliens.avi/Aliens.smil) Most players like MS Player and Classic will play the subs automatically if you have vobsub installed. I think it comes with the K-lite codec pack.

I think you may want to avoid that web-site for awhile...seems like there may be a virus issue right now...

As hanguker said, it's the third tab in the middle...after you click on it, a bunch of movies come up as well as a search f'n.

I was just there today...I didn't see anything that looked like a virus...

I have EZAntivirus and Zonealarm running and I'm using Firefox. And I don't think they can put a virus on a .smil file LOL. As always NEVER click "yes" on the internet and stop using Internet Explorer! Smile

Anyway...if you can't see hangeul on the website try on your browser: View/(Character) Encoding/Korean. You'll probably be able to read it after that.

The virus was picked up by XP. It was a vbs script...trojan? Temporary, yes. Cleanable, yes(thankfully). But it was there at the time that I mentioned. The site must've cleaned the problem up quickly enough. This is my brother-in-laws's laptop, so I'm glad nothing serious occurred. And, yes, the site seems fine now. I am still thankful that you gave us the link...it's not your fault that the site had a temporary problem.

Trojan Backdoor Generic 2.0 is the name. The site DOES have problems. Enter at your own risk! Now both XP and AVG have identified it. I'm not talking about anything I've downloaded...I do have the sense to scan before opening files.

LOL whatever. I've been using that site for years with XP and AVG/EZ and Zonealarm. Go there if you like (I've never gotten any viruses) or don't. In any case, good luck finding the captions you need.

Edit: I just checked and it does seem to be down at the moment. Maybe try in a little while. This doesn't mean, however, that there is a backdoor...or maybe there is.....woooooo....As far as I'm concerned, any Korean website is suspect.
