The old guy was said to be fully conscious & joking with nurses etc.

Laughing

I don't have a lot of warm, fuzzy feelings for Cheney myself, but I find it a bit disconcerting to hear someone say it would be "great" if an innocent person was killed by him, so he could be charged with manslaughter. That's a bit much.

I dont wish the guy dead. BUT if he dies it would be great if Cheney got charged and convicted.

As much as I loathe unfounded conspiracy theories, this "heart attack" spin on what was actually reported to be a relatively minor irregular heartbeat caused by an Oliver Stone-worthy magic pellet seems far far too convenient for the vice-president.

(speaking of the VP, does anyone else pick up a little bit of weirdness going on between him and his victim? If the old guy in the hospital was really in "stable" condition yesterday, why didn't they wheel him out so he could say some kind words of support for his friend of 30 years? That would also be a good time for him to publicly say, 'it was my fault, not the vice president's".)

From now on, when someone makes another embarrassing Cheney joke, the right-wing stormtroopers of the Internet will have license to feign shock and hurt: "the man's dying!! How dare you joke about this?"

An irregular heartbeat - if that is in fact what he had - is NOT a heart attack.
-------
From Wikipedia:

Acute myocardial infarction (AMI or MI), commonly known as a heart attack, is a serious, sudden heart condition usually characterized by varying degrees of chest pain or discomfort, weakness, sweating, nausea, vomiting, and arrhythmias, sometimes causing loss of consciousness. It occurs when the blood supply to a part of the heart is interrupted, causing death and scarring of the local heart tissue.

And why is that? The guy was in critical condition for a reason: Cheney put him in that condition. People can take sudden turns for the worse, heart attack or irregular heartbeat. If the guy dies then yeah, Cheney will be on the hook. Do I wish the guy dead? No, but if he dies it wont be for nothing as he could probably put away one of the most corrupt and evil men in politics.

I wrote that in response to your first comment, before you ate your words and said you didn't REALLY want him to die, and before the conspiracy theories emerged.

I'm seeing a lot of non-Americans wishing death upon an innocent non-politician (ok, he is a lawyer, I can see the jokes in that Smile, just to promote your anti-American views. Really low, even for the Current Events Forum.

According to the article-
Quote:
will be watched to make sure more metal pellets do not reach other vital organs

and-
Quote:
Hospital officials said they were not concerned about the six to 200 other pieces of birdshot that might still be lodged in his body.

It does seem that hospital officials should get their story straight, as these two statements do contradict. I love that rough estimate, too, six to 200 Shocked

And I'm seeing a flag-waving American rallying around a Vice-President who seems to behave as if he were above the law.

In addition to the five million other things about this story that stink to high heaven.

Im quoting myself.

Quote:
Its funy but what if the guy dies? As the previous poster said, I too would LOVE to see Cheney charged with manslaughter.

Nowhere did I mention that I wish him death. I said it would be funny if Cheney got convicted NOT if the guy died. If the guy died it would be tragic but having Cheney charged and convicted would be funny.
