I was lying in bed this morning when I heard the common noise of a loud speaker. Not knowing much Hangul I figured it was the normal truck selling whatever.
The problem was that whoever it was, they were 15 minutes early(7:45 am). I do believe that type of sales isn't to be done before 8:00 a.m., since in my neighborhood it ain't done before that.
I later figured out just who it was.
It wasn't the normal salesman out of a truck, it was the politician.
It's the 1st day of election month and the politicians are already breaking the laws.
Enjoy the May sounds of politicians! |

Might as well get used to it. The PAs will be blasting out campaign speeches all day every day for the rest of the month. |

When I first got to Korea and heard the blaring political loudspeakers, it felt like I was in that movie "The Year of Living Dangerously" with Mel Gibson and Sigourney Weaver. Had that third world the-gov't-is-about-to-be-overthrown feel to it. Just weird.
Then the banana trucks showed up. Eventually it all became normal. |

The first time I heard those guys, I thought they were declaring a hurricane warning. |
