I was lying in bed this morning when I heard the common noise of a loud speaker. Not knowing much Hangul I figured it was the normal truck selling whatever.

The problem was that whoever it was, they were 15 minutes early(7:45 am). I do believe that type of sales isn't to be done before 8:00 a.m., since in my neighborhood it ain't done before that.

I later figured out just who it was.

It wasn't the normal salesman out of a truck, it was the politician.

It's the 1st day of election month and the politicians are already breaking the laws.

Enjoy the May sounds of politicians!

Might as well get used to it. The PAs will be blasting out campaign speeches all day every day for the rest of the month. Crying or Very sad

When I first got to Korea and heard the blaring political loudspeakers, it felt like I was in that movie "The Year of Living Dangerously" with Mel Gibson and Sigourney Weaver. Had that third world the-gov't-is-about-to-be-overthrown feel to it. Just weird.

Then the banana trucks showed up. Eventually it all became normal.

The first time I heard those guys, I thought they were declaring a hurricane warning.
