I like the sticks, and I'm feeling a bit of guilt over it. Now when I have to use forks in a restaurant I find myself feeling very inconvienced. It was a painful few weeks until I finally figured it how without dropping everything, but now things are cool. Just wondering who else feels the same way.

Depends on what I'm eating. Being from Vancouver (high Asian population, many Chinese restaurants), and eating with chopsticks before I learnt how to walk or talk (maybe exaggerating a tad) I am comfortable with them. But now, moreso than ever. Although, after finding myself too comfortable with them, I felt I had to see the ole' trusty fork from time to time.
A honkin' steak, anything western: Fork
Stir fry, anything Korean, etc: chopsticks
Fried chicken, pizza: hands (although I admire the noble efforts of the Korean English teachers at my school who use chopsticks somehow)
And to quote Jerry: Those Asians. Still stickin' with the chopsticks!
Haha... seems the food of origin just matches the utensil of origin. |

I am proficient with the chopstick, fork, spoon, and knife. There is no utensil which can daunt me!
These days, one of the joys in my life is going to a western style restaurant and watching my Korean companions attempt to use a fork and knife. There is no sawing with a knife. It's simply a matter of garishly stabbing with the fork and tearing away with the knife. So cute. |

| I wonder where Koreans get their misinformation about westerners from. They're constantly telling me how amazed they are that I can use chopsticks. If South Koreans are so misinformed about westerners, you can just imagine what North Koreans will be like should that country open its door in the future. Oh boy! |

There should really be a "Are you for real?" option up there. I haven't voted yet, but I am pretty sure nobody is going to go for "long live the fork": A) Because nobody is so retarded that they can't use a a pair of chopsticks. B) If they were they certainly wouldn't admit it. C) If they did admit it, it would be in hushed tones leaned in across the table over drinks with dear, dear friends and not on this board where it would be like handing the mob three stakes and a hammer and then reclining on a wooden cross... |

| As Brento said, it depends on what I'm eating. However, it seems to me that the forks in restaurants seem rather large and clumsy. I prefer a smaller, more delicate fork. |

I use chopsticks like most people but I still find it awkward eating noodles with them and so tend to avoid noodle dishes until I'm totally bored with rice all the time.
Hmm maybe this belongs in the 'post nothing of interest' thread... |

Chop sticks for food made for eating with chopsticks, and knife/fork for the converse.
Grew up with plenty of asian food being served in the house and chop sticks are second nature... |
