This transcript thing's stupid, because as someone said before 'different universities have different systems', which leads to my question...

I was never given a transcipt in a sealed envelope. My offical transcipt has the uni stamp on it and is signed, and is lamenated (so its sealed). Do you guys think this will be ok?

I surely remember the embarrassing 3-year degree disqualifying rule that immigrations put in place in 2000-2001.

This knocked alot if Brits, Aussies, and Kiwis out of the job market for a while until the Kiwi Prime Minister came and persuaded the Korean government to end that god-awful rule.

I think that if someone contacted their government and complained about the invasion of privacy and the hassles they are getting from this (and I bet there are alot of legitimate teachers getting hassles from this), then the rule might change. Or if a representative from a very prestigious university with contacts with the South Korean government (such as Yale, Harvard or Oxford) and complain that their alumni are having difficulties getting a visa, then things might change.

I think that checking people is not the responsibility of the government, it is the responsibility of the schools. And I honestly think that if the schools were more regulated and managed more responsibly, then things wouldn't have gotten out of hand the way it did.

Exactly.
Why risk getting Mr. Yoo R. Pakt in a bad mood coz his wife doesn't understand him being at the room salon all night is considered business. Therefore he rejects your papers.

Do it and you are 100% safe...don't do it and you run the risk.

whats with formality when one place tells u one thing and the other tells you something different.

I've called immigration numerous times for things and one day they tell me its ok and the next its not ok..

example of this kind of incompetency

i was at KB bank a few weeks ago and tried to wire transfer money out of the country.. anyway the bank person tells me they can't allow me to send money out of the country because i have another bank account with CHB, and that i must close that account first. I thought this was really stupid so when asked why he told me its "a new policy". Unfortunately for him, he could speak english so i gave him a mouthful of what i thought about the banks policy and that my friend who works for the same uni i work at also has a CHB account was allowed to wire transfer money at the other KB bank down the road.

In the absence of losing face.. because he really didnt want to lose face and admit that hes wrong. He stood his ground and told me that he knows his job and thats "our" policy. I told him i dont think he knows what hes doing and that he just doesnt want to admit he may not be 100% sure. I told him that i will goto the other KB bank to wire the money home and once its done i'll come back to confirm that infact he doesnt know what hes talking about and that its not the banks policy, rather he just used "policy" as an excuse for not losing face.

Well, sure enough i was in the bank today and i explained to him, the other KB bank down the road has NO policy where i have to close my CHB account. I was clear to mention that hes made the mistake and that he didnt really know what to do.. considering it took him over 2 hours at the bank to figure out the process of wire transferring.. In the end he admitted he may have made some error.. for gods sake why not just say "sorry sir, i dont really know or I can't help you at this momement, but if you come back tomorrow i'll try to have this cleared up".. instead its just no no no.. i must not lose face, i cant show weakness..

btw.. i submitted all the necessary documents required by KB bank when i opened the account 3 months ago.

But then again, CHB bank told me last year they are no longer issuing cards with cirrus for international banking i.e. withdrawals... NOT TRUE.. I believe banks in korea have their own policies and they dont seem to be on the same page..

sorry about the rant.. i just cant stand incompetency from people who are appointed positions where they should know what they are talking about.. if u dont know just say so!!
