Re: Queenstown bakery.

I tried to get logged in to the site and somehow my account has been forgotten. On applying again I can't get logged in. Further than this though is the new price for an apple pie and a NY cheesecake. I don't understand why the price over six months just jumped 100 % to 40.000 won for an apple pie. Even with a generous discount like the bakery gave in the past (Christmas time) that would (still) be 30K for each. A total order of 90.000 won but six months ago 50-55.000 won.

Hungry for yummy food yet sadly kept hungry.

It'd be a cold day in hell before I'd pay $20 for an apple pie. $40? Forget about it. I'll go pour sugar in my mouth and take a swig of apple juice instead.

Geez! For those prices, wouldn't you be better off just buying an oven and making your own? Then you could have your treats whenever you want them!

Which is what I said in the beginning, but people got annoyed that we don't all defend and uphold the foreign business community, or something.

Heck, I'd bake you an apple pie for 30,000. Or at least let you use my oven for 10,000.

Don't get me wrong, the original price with the discount was too cheap.
I could easily handle paying 20% more.
But now my wife won't let me order because it's just too high.
Anyway, I'm sure the business will succeed because many Korean people can pay any amounts for luxury.

The post was addressed to Queenstown bakery.
Was expressing disappointment about prices and logging in. There were also compliments. There were no names nor things personal.

Join Costco for 30,000 won.

Then buy an Apple Pie for 10,000 won.

Under my signature, I had a little ad that said 35% off and free delivery for dave's users. I took down the signature ('cuz nobody reads sigs), and just assumed everyone knew this is a permanent offer. Anyway, hubby increased the prices because he wanted to cut down on some business 'cuz I feel like crap these days. Anyway, I'm getting better. OP-I've sent you a PM regarding prices^^.

Anyway, you can't compare my on-line bakey to Costco. Costco doesn't deliver; Costco doesn't make specialty orders; and they don't use the quality ingredients I use (all natural, at that- I don't use canned pumpkin, for example- it's pureed, after I bake a pumpkin for an awhile- Costco most likely doesn't do that- I don't know for sure, as I've never inquired with the Costco staff). Not everyone lives near a Costco, either. Apples and oranges. Anyway, people seem quite pleased with my bakery items. *Most importantly, Costco doesn't have their grubby little hands on my killer recipes Twisted Evil *

I'm sorry if you guys are having problems with the website- I'll mention it to my husband. Most of my customers just pm me here on dave's (I'm on dave's every day, Mon.- Fri.!). You can e-mail me, too, through dave's. If 35% off is still too steep, I'm willing to negotiate! ^^

20,000 for a pie is reasonable. A bag of apples (you need about 7 or 8 for a deep dish apple pie) will run at least 6000 won. Butter is almost 4000 won, I believe. Flour, cinnamon, sugar, etc. is still pretty cheap, but add in another 2000 won for the other ingredients. Therefore, ingredients alone are about 12,000 won. Rolling out the dough, slicing apples, baking, washing dishes, etc. is another 2 hours of labor (at the very, very, very least). The delivery company charges 3000 won for a pick-up. If I deliver it myself, subway is at least 2000 won there and back. That comes to a grand profit of MAYBE 5000 won for a pie that is priced at 20,000 won.

I do this as a hobby, and I'm targeting a niche market in Korea. Again, not to alienate expats, I'm offering discounts and negotiable prices. Looks like I'll have to contact Chiaa and drop off some samples for him to offer at his store just to win over some of you hard sells! ^~ Then again, Chiaa might not like crumbs all over his store...

Yes, some things are exorbitantly priced (the bread, for example). Because the profit margin is so low, my husband really doesn't want me to get many orders (he thinks I'm a workaholic and wants me to chill some), so he's inflated the prices. He thinks it's not worth it. That's the reason for the jacked up prices, and my reason, again, for the discounts...
