| I haven't been following the dbate here, but I'm pretty sure that a conspiracy theory that says 11/9 was organised by Bush and co, is a load of crap. |

Dear Reader,
Civilization as we know it is coming to an end soon. This is not the wacky proclamation of a doomsday cult, apocalypse bible prophecy sect, or conspiracy theory society. Rather, it is the scientific conclusion of the best paid, most widely-respected geologists, physicists, and investment bankers in the world. These are rational, professional, conservative individuals who are absolutely terrified by a phenomenon known as global "Peak Oil."
"Are We 'Running Out'? I Thought
There Was 40 Years of the Stuff Left"
Oil will not just "run out" because all oil production follows a bell curve. This is true whether we're talking about an individual field, a country, or on the planet as a whole. |

Gotta love this:
| Quote: |
| Not surprisingly, George W. Bush has echoed Dick Cheneys sentiments. In May 2001, Bush stated, "What people need to hear loud and clear is that were running out of energy in America." Bush's Crawford ranch is completely off-the-grid and equipped with the latest in energy saving and renewable power systems. It has been described as an "environmentalist's dream home." The fact a man as steeped in the petroleum industry as Bush would own such a home should tell you something. |
I've said it before (although it was before reading Peak Oil, ao this just adds fuel to the fire, so to speak) and I'll say it again:
All fall down, go BOOM! |

Well Brazil experienced peak oil. Now it's energy self sufficient, using methanol from its massive sugar crops.
Food increases arithmatically, population increases geometrically. People thought this rule would mean the world would soon starve to death. But then they invented the pill and the green revolution. Genetic engineered crops is the next promise.
Humans thought they were going to run out of nitrogen for fertilizer and everyone was going to starve to death. Nitrogen was mined until the early 20th century and the mines were running out. Then Fritz Haber came along and figure out how to pull nitrogen out of the air (our air is mostly nitrogen). Voila. Problem solved. Haber is a curious fellow. He saved the entire world from starvation but during WWI he was the father of chemical warfare. Needless to say, he never got his Nobel prize for saving the world. He was Jewish too and his discovery probably greatly contributed to the rise of Hitler. Explosive are made from nitrogen. If Germany had to rely on mined stock piles they wouldn't have lasted long in WWI and wouldn't have experience the financial ruin that led to Hitler's rise. The Haber Process ended up allowing Germany to stay in the war long after it was financially prudent. Haber himself avoided the gas chamber and Nazi persecution based on the strength of his contribution to Germany in WWI and he was allowed to quietly leave Germany.
Anyway, think about the oil shock of the early '70s that kicked off stagflation and 20% prime rates. While no one is jumping up and down with oil at $76 a bbl, its effects on a highly efficient 21st century economy has been distinctly muted. Add in that there are loads of technologies (methanol, solar, wind, tidal power, tar sands, gas hydrates) in the wings ready to jump in if everyone concerned comes to the conclusion high oil is here to stay. The problem with high oil is every time there's been high oil, it's been quickly followed by record lows. People are gun shy to invest in such technologies. |

And so? And so!!!!!!!!
You haven't been paying attention, have you laddie?
http://www.oilempire.us/911why.html
9/11: why it happened
is more important than how
Deep Politics of 9/11
Motivations for allowing 9/11 to happen
Create pretext to seize Middle East oilfields (to control Earth's oil supplies after Peak Oil) and enact "Homeland Security" police state
The attacks were allowed to happen to facilitate an aggressive policy of world empire, particularly in the Middle East and Central Asian oil fields, which contain energy supplies that will become even more critical in the near future as oil extraction declines in the non-Islamic world. (It has been said that the last two barrels of oil will be Saudi and Iraqi.
And if you're up for a bit of reading, here's an essay on what peak oil means and why.

wait a minute if Bush had planned 9--11 to seize mideast oil fields why go throught the trouble of airplanes.
I mean why not place a small nuclear bomb near the WTC and then blame it on Saddam? Why go after the Taliban in Afghanistan?

Or they could have just used the attacks to get America behind a Apollo-level effort to move the American economy off oil. I dunno you're expecting a lot from Bush. If he was so crafty, he would have prepared better for Iraq.
And back to peak oil. Shifting an economy causes some pain, no doubt, but there are lots of energy alternatives, as I've outlined above, that peak oil will make affordable. A nation of 180 million has already demonstrated it can make the switch to methanol with little fuss and muss. Do you seriously think the free market won't respond and come up with a solution? |

PLus, why would they attack the Pentagon if they were getting ready for a war? Not to mention a major financial centre? |

"Bell curve"?? Like this?
Wouldn't that mean we'll eventually get to the downward sloping portion of the curve? And eventually back to 0? |

Well, that is what he should have done. I think part of the lack of planning in Iraq was also intentional. As long as Iraq is a mess the US will have a reason to stay there. And I believe Bush wasn't smart enough to plan all this out. He is just the poster boy of the real powers that be.

I am hopeful that you are right, but this is not something that I dreamed up. This is information that was known long before Bush was "elected". |

This is your most NAIVE post ever. I'm surprised it's coming from you.
OBVIOUSLY, the American government want to continue the then-recent initiative to develop suitcase nuclear bombs to take out a square block or two, technology the U.S. military was actively developing despite concerns expressed by the Canadian gov't among others.
And MUCH MUCH MORE OBVIOUSLY, the Taliban in Afghanistan was the perfect excuse to build up a military presence in the region, bringing in many aircraft carriers, ramping up recruitment and training and nearby bases.
Joo Rip Gwa Rhhee, wake up man. Or maybe you posted on a soju hangover. |
