| I'm the only foreign teacher at my school so I have no one to show me around or hang out with. I'm trying to enjoy the city and it's hard to do it alone. Can anyone give me some pointers on how/where to meet people here. I'm one stop from Olympic park in Dunchon Dong. |

Ever thought that maybe they registered before they got here... you know, like a lot of people do?
I second the profile / photo thing... if not publicly on the forum, then via a private message... I'm happy to introduce people to a lot of good people, but I don't want a social deprave at the same time... |

yeah- or someone for who this is not just a song- "It's REALITY, man"
I can't seem to face up to the facts
I'm tense and nervous and I can't relax
I can't sleep cause my bed's on fire
Don't touch me I'm a real live wire
Psycho killer, qu'est que c'est
Far better
Run away
Psycho killer, que'st que c'est
Far better
Run away
Oh yeah
You start a conversation you can't seem to finish it
You're talkin' a lot but you're not sayin' anything
When I have nothing to say my lips are sealed
Say something once why say it again
Ce que j'ai fait, ce soir la
Ce qu'elle a dit, ce soir la
Realisant, mon espoir
Je me lance vers la gloire
We are vain and we are blind
I hate people when they're not polite |

There are lots of clubs listed in KScene magazine, and there are even a few - including free "learn Korean" classes for foreigners in the English newspapers. I used to attend some classes on Saturdays near Sookmyung Women's University run mainly by Korean women wanting to meet and help foreigners, and there were always new faces every week...
There are also sites like "Korean friend finder" which mostly list Koreans along with a significant number of foreigners... (If you're interested in vegetarianism, check out the Seoul Veggie Club:

Well I live in the same area as mamaille.
You just got here, as in within a week or two? I can show you around the area if you want.
I'll tell you how I meet people: I choose a random apartment door and then just stand there waiting for the person to come out. When they do, I make sure they hit me with the door and act like I was just walking by. That starts up a conversation, and we become lifelong pals.
Seriously, though, weekends are a good time. If you work a night shift at a hagwon, I'm not averse to going to Beer Club or some other happening place on occasion after work. |

Drink heavily... foreign 'scrubs' will gravitate to you... and Ks who want free English lessons will find you hard to resist. |

Not sure if you noticed, but Seoul has about 20 million people. You're bound to bump into one of them sooner or later.
Seriously, though, join some clubs, hit the English bookstores, enroll in a Korean language program, find the local hagwon street, ride the subway and get off at random stations...you'll be wallowing in friends before you know it. |
