I got lucky at my Haggie, after years of problems on all fronts a Korean American sat the Wongja down and said " Hey, it's like this..."
Awahhh ! Point was taken, face was saved and apart from being payed late (which he got away with because he was super cool in other ways) all the waygooks were happier. The K teachers were another story however... |

genius idea.. they'd never pay for it though so you'd have to send it out for free. why not compile the best suggestions here into an e-booklet with fancy pictures; you could probably get in the newspapers and then you'd be well on your way.
i think the most important rules would be don't promise what you can't/won't deliver, and don't move the goalposts (ie. you used to teach x classes, now you'll teach x plus 10 and you'll be writing loads of stupid reports without any increase in payment). when i was a hakwon monkey those were my biggest complaints. also i would suggest supporting the teacher in disciplinary issues; if you don't do this, decent teachers will leave and you'll just end up with the slack still-drunk-from-the-night-before clock-watchers. |

| At my public school my whitey wrangler (another posters term that I like and just stole) has just such a manual. It is about 4 inches thick. It is written in Korean so other than some suff about how to get your waygook a ARC and such I have no idea what it says. However, as of this date no twizzler licorice rope or hand licks have been exchanged. |

If you have a lone foreigner, remember that they don't understand what you're talking about. if they request to sit out of meetings/social gatherings because they feel uncomfortable, do not take offence.
And remember they probably think and percieve things differently to you, as they're not Korean. |
