I order vegetable kimbap (야채김밥), and it's got ham in it.
I order salad kimbap (샐러드 김밥), and it's got ham in it.
I see a package of mixed vegetables (야채) in Carrefour's freezer section, and it's got ham in it.

No, but you have to be really specific about these things if you want vegetable kimbap, salad kimbap, etc., without ham. |

Haha, welcome to my world. I don't eat pork and always make sure to tell the food service people where I go to eat, but somehow a ubiquitous slice/cube/rasher of the stuff occaisionally still creeps into my meal. |

I'll bet you next month's salary that it isn't ham. It is almost certainly Spam. Spam is NOT ham. |

[Ad Rock]
Well it's the King Ad Rock and I'm a goddamn fool
Don't give a *beep* about the golden rule
Because you know I get fly, I'm high, I'm gone
Listen all of y'all, because my word is fucking bond
[Milk]
I'm the Milk, man, I got game like Ewing
I work real hard like Oakley be doing
Mister 23 couldn't dunk on me
Here's a knee to the ribs, my bad, foul three
[Ad Rock]
Well it's the high-pitched brothers from the East Coast
Rapping on the mic and giving y'all the most
Because I'm the host of disaster, master of shock
You all want a piece of Milk and Ad Rock!
[Milk]
Yeah! Everybody knows that Milk's no killer
But you might catch a headbutt like Reggie Miller
I am what I am that's all that I am
But what I ain't is spam, damn!
Spam! Ain't the move it's imitation ham!
Ham is pork and the pork is foul
Kinda like a pig and that ain't my style
Two MC's you know we're versatile
[Ad Rock]
So won't you grab the mic and just rock for, a while
[Milk]
Milk's the name I use, I don't smoke wools
I'm down to catch a bump and a bruise
But I won't slit my wrist if I get dissed
I drink a quart then I take a long piss
[Ad Rock]
Well it's the intergalactic connection with the rhythm section
And I like to wreck shit so (Get live, all right?)
I bulit my house on my DJ's cuts
I'm Wilt the Stilt cause I bust a million nuts
[Milk]
Check! I'm unpredictable like the Knick John Starks
When I wreck the mic all you see is Milk sparks
Fire! My voice gets HIGHER and HIGHER
You said I'm not the man, you goddamn liar
[Ad Rock]
Well it's nice to be back in the M-I-X
I'm making all the suckers say "My God, what's next?"
Because I'm on some other type of shit that's odd
But I got a hook for all of y'all and it's
Spam! Ain't the move it's imitation ham!
Ham is pork and the pork is foul
Kinda like a pig and that ain't my style

"This is all very unfortunate, but he made a mistake
And he sung, we're not going to have any more trouble
He was always a lovely boy"
[Ad Rock]
Well one (One!) two (Two!) three (Three!) four (Four!)
Who's that black guy knocking on my door?
[Milk]
It's the M to the I to the L to the K
I'll split your girl when it's time to hit the hay
Spit in the crowd and curse at the ref
Scream on the mic til you all go deaf
[Ad Rock]
I put a smile on your face from ear to ear
Make a young lady want to shake their rear
Because I got raps, I kick skull snaps
When it comes to rhyming I never hold back
[Milk]
I hate a sucker boy in the skirt and shirt
Trying to act hard but he just don't work
You'd better step left or you might get hurt
Punched in the face and kicked in the dirt
[Ad Rock]
Well I'm Earl the Pearl Monroe and I'm on the go
When I get my flow you know, I'm gone
But you can't catch me with your fucking raps, G
Cause I'm the man, you know I'm never ever no
Spam! Ain't the move it's imitation ham!

This reminds me of when I was studying in Germany during my vegetarian years(which are back, by the way) and I was strolling around lovely Konstanz with a group of other veggies when Deirdre, one among us, grew a bit peckish.
We soon came across a bakery(you can't really go more than two blocks without running into one) and Deirdre, whose German was quite good briskly entered the Backerei and returned with a roll of some sort.
All of a sudden(she is one of those vegetarians... ) she started screaming and squawking and spitting and sputtering and saying: "It's got Speck in it!! I asked her if there was meat in it, and she said no!"
Speck, for the uninitiated, is bacon, of the "bits" variety, auf Deutsch.
So we returned to the backery, and I helped Deirdre out, as she was still suffering from an aggravated attack of apoplexy. I said(and for the gender/preposition agreement police out there, my German is rustig, so back off):
"Entschuldigung, aber, hier ist Fleisch." (Excuse me, but there is meat in this...)
to which the proprietor said: "Wie bitte? Wo?" (What? Where?)
"Hier. In dieser Brotchen. Sieh!" (Here. In this roll. Look!)
And she looked down at what remained of the roll and chuckled. Then said:
"Das? Das ist Speck...!" (That? That's bacon!)
At which point I gave her one of those pointed, And??? looks, which she picked up on. And thus she pointedly replied:
"Speck? Speck ist nicht Fleisch!"
Ah, those crazy continentals... |

You're on, Mr. gang. (or it is Mr. jee?) Next time you're back in the ROK.
When I was a wet behind the ears newbie I went for my first grocery store adventure and found a whole rack of Spam, but no ham anywhere. I looked up and down all the aisles and in all the coolers, next to the dairy and below the cheese. No ham anywhere.
A few days later I made my first Korean friend. One of my first questions was, "Where's the ham?" He said, "Anyplace ham is." I started jumping for joy. "Show me! Show me!"
So we went on a trip to the grocery store. He led me right up to the Spam display. I remember rolling on the floor in agony, crying and thrashing at the injustice of it all. |
