Most of these guys are really well known.
An obscure a couple of more obscure ones, Pierre Bensusan and Gordon Giltrap. Both obscure but incredible folk guitar players. Allan Holdsworth is fairly obscure too, if you're a guitar player you've heard of him in all probability, but if you're not it is very unlikely. |
Allan Holdsworth is great, as is Fredrik Thordendal who is strongly influenced by him.
Mike Keneally is also pretty awesome. |

| I can't believe no one has mentioned Skwisgaar Skwigelf..... |
He IS fast, but I prefer Toki Wartooth's rhythmic strumming. |
Well they pretty much mix him out in the studio, him and Murderface's excellent base lines. The band is basically all SKwisgaar and Nathan explosion. |

| I'll second an ealier vote for John Frusciante. One guy said he was nothing but a spaz but I can only imagine that he hasn't really paid mushc attention to a lot of the stuff John has written/played. Keep in mind he has A LOT of solo albums that are nothing like the Red Hot Chili Peppers. HE is an unbelievable guitarist and is the antithesis of as spaz. |
