|
|
Maybe not all of you are familiar with the China's Family Planning Policy. But hopefully you have heard of it already. Anyway let me introduce it to you. Family Planning Policy means that every family can only have one child and is not allowed to have another one. If some couple bore more than one child then very severe penalty will be given. They will pay a lot of money (which is not affordable for normal two-income families) for the 'extra' child. If they work for the government, things will be much worse, i.e. they may lose their job. Anyway, neither of these two results are the end of the world. The worst situation in China is that if the government finds some pregnant ladies who have already had one child, the officers who are responsible for the Family Planning Policy will come to their home and force them to abort!
Till now, I believe you must have some idea about the policy. I am not kidding you. This is the real situation in China today. What do you think of it? Any information or feedback will be highly appreciated. |

alas, i'm not so familiar with the chinese methods of birth control although i've heard it already in school.
but i can see one big problem that comes up especially in china if you can only have one child in a family. i think that the chinese are very conservative which means that they expect from their child(ren) to be cared for when they get older. and for that, if they'd get a girl, it's not supposed to earn much money and also cannot care for her parents so well. because of that many chinese parents kill their female babys because they want to have a boy who can marry and earn much money and take a good care of them when they're older. and then this policy becomes a problem.
am i right about the facts? sorry if i've told something wrong

Generally I don't think it is a bad idea, but you've got to see the problems this policy has brought. The only child becomes the center of the family and and their parents would do everything they can to satisfy the child. That means when these children are grown up they'll find it extrmely diffilcult to cope with the challenges and competetions which have become the most important characteristics of the modern secoiety.
Besides, children growing up alone can have problems in effective communication with other people. |

But perhaps the capitalistic world now needs such arrogant and egoistic guys. |
yeah, maybe - but that's risky because such egoistic guys wouldn't think about how what they're doing is concerning our environment. but that's another topic.
and for that, there would have to be everyone egoistic, otherwise the 'friendlier' guys are suppressed.
and, you could be egoistic but you also have to be willing to compromise.
so i'd like it much more if everyone would be friendly to each other - but that's an unrealistic dream of mine..
