"It's not that..." is usually followed by some kind of contrasting statement beginning with but, however, or a similar word. The meaning is "It's not true that..." or "It's not the case that..."
For example, if my friend thinks that I don't want to go to a party with him, I might say, "It's not that I don't want to go with you, but I have to wake up at 7:00 AM tomorrow morning." |
