I am in the process of sending my CBC and have read multiple posts that it costs 100$. Is this just for the CBC but for the whole CBC process?

Isn't the CBC just 18$ per copy? I know I have to send the app, fingerprint card and request for it to be sealed.

I apologize for the confusion but have worked 60+ hours over the past few weeks and I'm just exhausted.

I am going to send my fingerprints within the next few weeks because I want to make sure that it won't expire before Feb 2012.

Isn't the CBC just 8$ per copy? I know I have to send the app, fingerprint card and request for it to be sealed.

My experience from 2 months ago:

FBI CBC = $18 (took 5 weeks)
Stamp to FBI = $0.45 (FBI paid the postage back to my address)

Apostille = $8 (took 3 weeks + they cashed my check 1 week after I got the apostilled CBC back Shocked )
Stamp to the State Dept.= $0.45 (State Dept. paid the postage back to my address)
----------------
Total = $26.90

If you're pressed for time, I'd suggest you at least send the requests by certified/registered mail.

Good luck!

Awesome, thanks for the info. Did you include a letter asking for the seal?

Yes. Just a sticky note will do. Don't need nothing fancy. Good luck!

It depends if you need it right away or not. I was in Australia when I needed mine, so I had to express mail it from there. In Australia the finger prints also cost like $30, and then I needed it right away so I paid like $40 or something for expedited appostille service. If you are in America and have lots of time though, it would probably all cost under $50.

No once in your whole message did you give a clue of what country you are from? I suspect you are American as you went awesome to a post about FBI prices. Ok you are tired, but country of origin is important.

As to price, you have to factor in other costs like
Shipping there
Shipping back to you.
FBI Check Fee
Bank/Check/Credit Card Fees
Shipping to State department or Apostille Service.
State Department/Apostille Service Fee
Shipping it back to you again.
Various phone calls around?

Some factors can effect the whole price. If you have the time avoid the Apostille service, if you are rushed the price just went up.

How are you shipping it there, regular mail or express? Cheap or expensive.

Can you give us some details of your situation so you can be helped.

I am in the process of getting a new one done from within Korea.

After I get my fingerprints done, I have to mail them to the FBI office along with the credit card form, the letter stating I need it signed by the person doing the check (in order to get an apostille).

1. Do I need to send a return addressed envelope for them to send it back to Korea?

2. Do I need to add on any fee them to mail it back to Korea? If so, how much?

Thanks in advance for any help. Very Happy

I am not American so I have never done the process myself, but many other teachers have done it before.

Read.....

Start with this ONE, the granddaddy of them all. It maybe over 40 pages, but you will get the idea of the F to do.

Used google again with the words - korea blog FBI check process

Plus the actual FBI site...
http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/background-checks

Which explains many things... Take the time to read, including any forms/pdfs

The forms and site mention nothing of having to provide an envelope. Just 18 dollars. I do remember something about using a fedex account to get quicker delivery. But I am not going to do your work for you.

Saw no other blurbs or info about international shipping rates. Just 18 dollars.

Once again this does not include the hassles of getting the CRC apostilled, which is done by a different department.

Thanks everyone for the help!. I am not too worried about the apostilled part because my brother lives near DC.

I will be sending it off soon so I just needed clarification.

I'm sure this thread will help someone in the future as well.

You need two CBC's in case something happens. What if your school dumps you? You'll need another one. Make sure you take the steps to have the CBC notarized by the FBI office (just include a letter along with the application stating that the CBC has to be apostilled).
