A friend of mine is interested in moving to Korea to teach English. He's afraid of ending up at a shady hagwon. Can anyone recommend a reputable recruiter? |

If you are a newbie and you want to avoid a shady hagwon then don't take a hagwon job.
EVERY recruiter will place you in a hagwon if they can (just like a used car salesman will sell you a car if they can).

What ttompatz? You are not going to post your stock answer? It is so good and explain recruiters very well. |

If you friend is afraid in ending up in a shady hagwon, then your friend needs to get his ass signed up for Daves esl cafe (and Waygook) and start reading. I would start with the contract review thread, then next the FAQ section. The best way to avoid shady hagwon is to do, due diligence and educating yourself.
As to the most reputable recruiter is the one you pay yourself. Remember recruiters do not work for you, they work for themselves and are paid by schools. |

Thanks for the info guys, there should be a sticky on this. This is the first time I've posted in the "Job-related Discussion" as I've never had a teaching job here in Korea. I didn't realize it was a commonly asked question here.
I'll let my friend know. |
