I had a friend who used adventure teaching and she got very positive results with the company. On the other hand, teachersforasia.com also looks decent. There was also reviews on adventure teaching over here and generally the recruiters are good although a bit slow. What are your recommendations? |

I used Say Kimchi Recruiting in my first year and they were wonderful. Then some random woman from the job sections of this website my second and she was also wonderful!
Moral of the story - don't just choose 1! Apply to several and you'll soon find out the ones you can trust from the ones you can't. |

Depends on you and your experience. I was a greenhorn newbie so I pounded through about 5 recruiters and I found a good job. The hagwon interview is more important than the recruiter ask QUESTIONS AND TALK TO A CURRENT AND/OR FORMER FOREIGN TEACHER. Usually the foreign teacher will say if the job sucks or not. The previous teacher at my school was there for 3 years so I knew it's probably an okay place. |

Well I have a bit of volunteer experience working with children and I also have a tefl 120 cert, but other than that, I'm pretty much a newbie. I hear a lot of good things about adventure teaching even here on dave's, but at the same time, the fact that I have to mail all my important documents to a recruiter irks me. I'm also in a dilema in which I'm about to leave to Japan next wednesday for 2 1/2 weeks and I need to decide what I'm going to do before then.
I was thinking about trying for a public school job at first but I think at this point, it's a bit late and I feel like being the greenhorn I am, I don't think I have the necessary qualities that those sorts of programs are looking for, or at least nothing that helps me stand out from others.
Also, what questions would you recommend I ask to recruiters/teachers? |

Never send the documents to a recruiter unless you have spare documents or a job offer with a signed contract. The recruiter basically holds you hostage and can in turn force you into a bad hagwon. Public schools are competitive but if you nail the interview you'll get the job. I went the hagwon way because of the smaller classes and no co-teacher breathing down my back. Also i had no previous experience except for a 120 hour course. Shop around when I was job searching I had 5 interviews and 3 offers. Hagwons are always hiring so don't rush in because you'll end up in a hagwon hell in the middle of no where. |

I do have a spare fbi background check in case something goes wrong, but the thing that worries me the most is getting all those other documents again, not the time. Having all that work done again will probably set me back another $2-300... |
